Mark 10:[46] And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.
They left Jericho onto the way to Jerusalem the city of peace. The blind man’s name was Bartimaeus which means son of Timaeus. Timaeus means to honor God. So he was the son born to honor God. We are told in scripture that all of creation was made to please God. This morning if you have ever questioned why you are opn this ball of mud the answer is to bring pleasure to God. I ask you this morning how about you? Are you on the road to peace pleasing the Creator? Or are you sitting on the side of the road blind and broken?
[47] And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
The first step for Bartimaeus was he heard Jesus was near. This morning I tell you Jesus is near. Do you hear this morning?
The blind man knew who Jesus is. This morning let me tell you Jesus is the Son of God who came to this world, lived a sinless life and died on a cross to pay for your sins. God raised Him up out of Hell and He is alive today waiting for you to cry out to Him to save you.
The blind man heard and evidently believed them when they told him it was Jesus because he began to cry out to Jesus.
Today if you hear and believe you too can call out to Jesus.
The blind man knew Jesus was the source of mercy. This morning you too can receive mercy from Jesus by calling on Him.
[48] And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
The bind man ignored the crowd not caring what others might think He knew he had a need and he knew Jesus could meet his need. This morning I encourage you not to listen to the crowd or worry about what others might say, I encourage you cry out to Jesus for His mercy this morning.
[49] And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.
Jesus did not run away or hide Himself. He stood still and waited. Jesus will not run from you rather He is waiting for you to come to Him. If you quit resisting the Spirit and come this morning to Jesus you too can find comfort.
[50] And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.
The blind man did not let anything hold him back but rather cast all aside and came to Jesus. I encourage you this morning don’t let anything hold you back. You have no cover for your sins come to Jesus as you are naked and in need.
[51] And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
Jesus will not ignore you He will answer you. This man knew his true need. He needed sight. This morning if Satan has blinded you the only thing that can give you sight is Jesus.
[52] And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
The blind man heard, believed and called and then he received. He no longer had a need he was made whole. He then followed Jesus to the city of peace.
This morning you can go from the side of the road blind and beggin to the middle of the highway following Jesus to peace.
