Be Of Good Cheer

Matt.9:[2] And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.

The devil no doubt tries to discourage believers and get them into the depth of depression. No matter what life has thrown at you , one thing the devil cannot touch is your forgiveness. Here we have a man sick with palsy whom Jesus does not heal immediately but rather forgives his sins.
Which would you consider your greater need? Your physical comfort? Your life free of obstacles? Certainly, the most urgent need of anyone is the salvation of their soul. Jesus died and paid the penalty for your sins. By simple faith in His atoning blood you too cam receive forgiveness as this man did.
Let this be an encouragement to you. When life has you on the ropes just remember, the devil cannot take away what Jesus has done for you on the cross.
A Christian can indeed be of good cheer, our sins are forgiven.

Matt.14:[24] But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.
[25] And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
[26] And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
[27] But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

When the storms come, and come they will, we must remember Jesus is with us through it all. Though we may become weak in our faith and the devil may cause some doubt to creep in, we must always remember Jesus has promised to never leave us or forsake us. No matter how dark the night or how high the way Jesus is with us and will be with us to the other side.

John.16:[31] Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
[32] Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
[33] These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Please take note here. Jesus did not make this statement after the Resurrection that He had overcome. No my brother, He assured us victory was His even before He faced Pilate. Our victory is just as certain. If Jesus is our Lord, we can rest in His unchanging grace. We too have overcome and our victory guaranteed through His blood. Jesus Himself tells us in this world we will have tribulations but our peace is not the peace the world has to offer. Our peace is peace with God knowing the debt of our sins has been paid for. This world is but a temporary environment which we must endure for so many years. But my brother eternity awaits us and the devil cannot change it.

So there you have it my brother the 3 reasons you can be of good cheer straight from the lips of our Savior.
Your sins are forgiven
He is with us in every storm of life
Victory is guaranteed.
