John 12:[34] The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?
[35] Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

How about you this morning? Do you know where you are going? You say “Pastor I don’t know. I hope I am going to Heaven. Or you might say I am not sure there is a Heaven. Or you might say no one knows where they are going until they die.”
Let me ask you this morning. Have you ever gotten in your car and said I don’t know where I am going? Or you get in the car and say I hope I am going to the store but I am not sure.
The most important decision you can make is where you will spend eternity. All other decisions pale in comparison to that one.
Jesus came to provide the way to eternal life. He has shed the light on your spiritual darkness so you may know. The problem is the Bible says that man loved darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil.
Again I ask you this morning, how about you? Do you know where you are going or are you walking in darkness?

[36] While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
[37] But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:
[38] That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
[39] Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,
[40] He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
[41] These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

Folks there is coming a day, and I believe it is very soon, when Jesus will be hid. He will be hid away with His bride and those who have rejected Him will be immersed in a darkness the likes of which mankind has never seen. The darkness of the Inquisition and the darkness of Nazi Germany is nothing compared to the darkness which will engulf this world under the hands of the anti-Christ.

[42] Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:
[43] For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

How about you this morning. What keeps you in the darkness? Are you afraid of what your friends will say? Your boss? Your family? Whose praise and approval means more to you than God’s?

[44] Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.
[45] And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.
[46] I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

Receiving Jesus is receiving God into your heart. You become a son of God. The Bible says even those who believe on Jesus’ name have been given the power to become the sons of God. He has come to dispel the darkness of sin and the darkness of doubt. He has come so you no longer need walk in darkness not knowing where you are going. But rather you can walk in confidence and without fear knowing you have a place in eternity prepared for you by Jesus Himself.

[47] And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
[48] He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
[49] For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
[50] And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

I do not judge you this morning folks. Jesus says even He did not come to judge the world but rather to save the world. There is coming a day of judgment folks. If you reject Jesus you are rejecting life itself and are condemned to spend eternity in a place created for the punishment of fallen angels. You were not meant for it but by your sin and rejection of the provision of God you will. You may chose eternal death or eternal life. You can chose light or you may chose darkness.

The word of God for Adam was don’t eat of the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil. He rejected that word and ate.
The word of God for the people of Noah’s day was to get on a boat because He was going to destroy the world and start over. They rejected the word.
The word of God for the Jews was to abide under the law and await the Messiah. They rejected the word.
The word of God for you today is to confess you are a sinner and believe Jesus died for your sins and was resurrected that you might have life. Ask God to forgive your sins and ask Jesus to come into your heart. You may reject these words and spend eternity in the lake of fire or you may accept and live.

Revelation 20:[11] And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
[12] And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
[13] And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
[14] And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
[15] And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Every person born upon this earth who rejected the word of God will appear before this throne. Their works will be judged according to the books. You say what books? Right here, sixty-six of them the BIBLE. Your works will be stacked up against the word of God given to you. Ultimately your appearance in the Book of Life determines your eternal destiny.
You say how do I get my name in the book of life?

Romans 10:[5] For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.
[6] But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)
[7] Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)
[8] But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
[9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
[10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
[11] For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
[12] For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
[13] For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Jesus died for your sins so that you do not have to. Why would you chose death over life? Do you prefer the praise of men more than the praise of God? I beg you this morning to confess you are a sinner and ask Jesus to come into your heart. He will write your name in the book of life with His blood this morning. Only trust Him.
