Through the Blood

There were many methods of death in Bible times. There was beheading, stoning or hanging. But Jesus was put to death by means of a cross.
A crucifixion was meant to be a slow and torturous death. It was more a means of torture rather than death.
It was through this horrendous method of death Jesus died for our sins.

John 12:[32] And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
[33] This he said, signifying what death he should die.

He must needs be crucified to endure the most suffering, to shed the most blood, to take the most time.
And while on this horrible cross Jesus bled from five points of His body. His back, head from the crown of thorns, His hands from the nails and His feet.

Jesus blood was shed for one reason and that is to pay for sins.

Matthew 26:[28] For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Jesus had no sins of His own and when He shed His blood it was shed for the sins of mankind.
Judas himself had declared Jesus was indeed an innocent man.

Matthew 27:[4] Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.
[5] And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.
[6] And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.
[7] And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in.
[8] Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.

After being tortured and beaten and bleeding for several hours the final shedding of blood occurred.

John.19:29] Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.
[30] When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
[31] The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
[32] Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.
[33] But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
[34] But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
[35] And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
[36] For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
[37] And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

Through the blood which Jesus shed you were bought from the devil. You no longer are your own but have been bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Acts.20:[28] Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

It is through His blood His righteousness is attributed to us for our sins.

Romans 3:25] Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

It is through His blood we have become justified and saved from the wrath to come.

Romans 5:[9] Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

It is through His blood we have been forgiven and the price paid for our sins.

Ephesians 1:[7] In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

It is through His blood we have become children of God.

Ephesians 2:[13] But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

It is through His blood we have attained peace with God.

Colossians 1:20] And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

How about you this morning? Has the blood of Jesus been applied to you? Have you received the redemption? The forgiveness? The peace?
Have you asked for forgiveness of your sins and surrendered your heart to Jesus?
